Terms of Service
The rules, in plain language
No legal team required to understand this. If something here ever feels unfair, tell us and we will fix the wording.
Welcome
By using starnode, the editor or this website, you are agreeing to these terms. We have tried to write them the way we would explain things to a friend, not the way a law firm would. If something here ever feels unfair, tell us. We would rather fix the wording than hide behind it.
The beta, plainly
starnode is currently in beta. The macOS build is unsigned, which means your Mac will warn you and you will need to right click and choose Open the first time. Features can change, break, or disappear as we keep building. That is the nature of a beta, and we appreciate you trying it anyway.
Accounts
An account is optional: the editor runs without one, and your code stays in your own folders. If you do create an account, to use hosted models and keep track of your credits, you agree to give us accurate information and to keep your login details to yourself. You need to be at least 16 years old to use starnode. You are responsible for anything that happens under your account, so if you think someone else has access to it, let us know right away and we will help you lock it down.
Using starnode responsibly
starnode includes a real terminal that runs code on your machine, the same as any terminal. That power comes with responsibility. Please do not use starnode to run anything illegal, to harm other people’s systems, or to abuse the credits or infrastructure we provide, including anything that looks like scraping our services or reselling access. Beyond that, build what you want.
Hosted models and your code
Messages you send to hosted models go through starnode to the model provider, under these terms and the provider’s own. Everything you create in starnode, your code and your projects, stays yours. We are not claiming any ownership over what you build.
Credits and billing
Free, Pro, and Max plans come with a set number of bundled credits each month, which reset on your billing cycle rather than rolling over. Yearly billing is simply ten times the monthly price. We may adjust pricing or credit amounts as the product matures, and we will always give you notice before a change affects what you are already paying for.
No promises we cannot keep
starnode is provided as is, especially during this beta period. We work hard to make the editor and hosted models reliable, but we cannot promise the app will always be free of bugs, or that a model provider will always respond the way you expect. Please keep backups of anything important, the same way you would with any software.
Limits on our responsibility
To the extent the law allows, starnode and the people building it are not liable for indirect damages, lost data, or lost profits arising from your use of the app. If something we did causes you direct harm, our responsibility is limited to a reasonable amount tied to what you actually paid us, if anything.
Ending things
You can stop using starnode at any time, and close your account with a short message to us. We may suspend access for accounts that violate these terms, though we will always try to talk to a real person first rather than jumping straight to that. Either way, your code is yours to keep, since it already lives in your own folders.
Changes and questions
We will update these terms as starnode grows, and we will update the date at the top whenever we do. If a change is significant, we will make an effort to let you know, not just quietly edit the page. Questions or concerns? Use the contact link at the bottom of this site. We read every message ourselves.
